The Alternatives

The Alternatives is a group of super-heroes founded by billionaire tycoon L. Roy Davidson to serve as an independent alternative to the DEFENDERS, who Davidson believes has lost sight of its original mission. The current roster of the Alternatives includes Paragon and his brother Apex. Part-time members include Flash-Bang and Sticks the Bat Man. The Alternatives staff includes Kirby the butler, nurse Allison Nichols, and publicist and media spokesperson Marcia Gayharden.

Apex

 Apex is the brother of Paragon, leader of the Alternatives. Apex is a sorcerer and student of the occult arts.

Flash-Bang

An accident during a high-energy physics experiment gave Flash-Bang the ability to generate intense pulses of light and sound which he uses to stun and incapacitate his foes. Flash-Bang is a part-time member of the Alternatives.

Flying Lad

The hero known as Flying Lad was once the international pop star known as Chip Skylark, cousin to the Kyle. After a freak exposure to extra-dimensional radiation, he gained the ability to fly at supersonic speeds.

Paragon

When he was a soldier serving two tours in Afghanistan, the man who would become Paragon was sent on a mission to destroy a secret Eclipse Cabal base. During the mission, he was caught near an explosion and exposed to experimental extra-dimensional energies. The exposure enhanced his natural abilities, making him the perfect human specimen. In addition, it gave him the ability to turn his body into the alien metal neutronium.

Paragon now serves as leader of the super-team known as the Alternatives.

Sticks the Bat Man

Jean-Paul Batmale was a world-renowned escrima fighter in the Philippines before being ship-wrecked and marooned on a lost island in the south Pacific. There he found an ancient temple. Within, he encountered an extra-dimensional god. In exchange for his pledge to dedicate his life to fighting evil, J.P. was granted a gift of two magical escrima bats and a magical face-mask.

Wilasa 

Wilasa was one of the founding members of the Alternatives. He is an invulnerable bestial hunter with claws and fangs.
